The board of directors has the responsibility to see
that the funds of the PTA are administered properly and in the best interests of the
members. To assure that this has been done, that the board acted responsibly and
that good financial practices have been followed, an audit or financial review of the
books and records must be conducted. The audit committee consists of at least 3 members of
the Cedar Valley PTA. Experience has taught us that it is easier to do several
audits during the fiscal year because there are less records to review.
You don't have to sit down
with your calculator and balance the checkbook or the budget. There are 25 general
yes or no questions about procedures, bank accounts, and financial reports that must be
answered. That's it!
